Does a Breach of Contract Absolve Me of My Own Contractual Obligations?

No! At least, not immediately. Generally speaking, if someone has not followed through on their end of the deal you must provide them notice of the breach and give them a chance to cure, or fix, their lapse. During that time you will be expected to uphold your end of the deal.

In extreme circumstances, when it is obvious that their is no reasonable way the other party can cure their breach, you will not be required to fulfill your contractual obligations.
